If you have seen the trailer of the movie Ghajini, you shouldn’t be left short of being surprised. Finally an action-thriller, something different than family drama and romance-based tragedy. Though it will definitely remind you about the Hollywood flick, Memento, but there is a slight difference in the story line and presentation. People who have watched Memento (2000) can infer, upon comparison with Ghajini, that the latter is a copy of the former. Do watch the trailer of both the movies. Ghajini is also based on the same concept. Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan), a rich tycoon, suffers from short-term memory loss as a result of an injury inflicted by a metal pole when he tries to intervene in the murder of his girlfriend. Because of the severe head injury he sustains, his memory does not last beyond fifteen minutes and naturally, he cannot remember incidents that have occurred in his life earlier. So, he makes notes and takes pictures with a Polaroid camera to ensure that the ailment, viz., loss of memory, can help him lead as near-normal a life as possible. Now, here lies the difference: the presentation is absolutely different. We have the obvious romantic touch and our own hindi songs (thank A.R. Rehman for that) and that jhatka as well. If you have watched Memento, you would know that the entire movie is in a reverse sequence. The end of the movie is the first scene of it! I am absolutely sure that to cater to the Indian masses, that reverse sequence has been done away with. Aamir’s character, Sanjay works for the cause of poor but ends up in trouble when Asin exposes the women trafficking racket in Mumbai. In a retaliatory attack by the pimps Asin gets killed. Aamir is determined to seek revenge and is assisted by a medical student (Jiah Khan) in his endeavors. It would be really amazing to see Aamir perform the role of a amnesiac who is determined to take revenge and stop female trafficking. Aamir is the kind of actor who will pay attention to even the minutest expression of his character. With fingers crossed, I wait for the release of the movie…
