Subhash Ghai, the showman of the industry, earned the tag and respect over the years by delivering hits like ‘‘Karz’‘ , ‘‘Vidhaata’‘, ‘‘Hero’‘ ‘‘Karma’‘, ‘‘Ram Lakhan’‘, ‘‘Saudagar’‘, ‘‘Pardes’‘ ,’‘Taal’‘ etc. And now, he is trying his level best to make his new musical ‘‘Yuvvraaj’‘ a success. He has accumulated quite a big cast which includes Salman Khan ( psss- had to patch up after a long standing enimity), his favourite Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Mithun Chakraborty and young gun Zayed Khan. American Jacob "Coby" Hadas makes his Bollywood debut with a small part in this film. What makes Yuvvraaj such a hot proposition is the Salman-Katrina pairing. After the success of Dus Ka Dum, Salman too is a hot property in India & overseas and Katrina’‘s stocks are already high in after she delivered six consecutive hits with Namastey London, Apne, Partner, Welcome, Race and Singh Is Kinng.
Synopsis- Yuvvraaj is a musical story of a fragmented family of three brothers Deven Yuvvraaj (Salman Khan), Gyanesh (Anil Kapoor) and Danny (Zayed Khan) fighting and playing games with each other to inherit their father’‘s wealth. According to the director, the film is about the arrogance and overconfidence of contemporary youth. He adds "Everyone wants to be a rock star, regardless of whether they have the morals to go with the appellation."
Yuvvraj’‘s Music The final major selling point of the movie is the music (Ofcourse, its a Subhash Ghai’‘s Film) and it ought to be. Firstly the legendary A.R.Rahman is composing the music (after Taal and Kisna) with the great lyricist Gulzar. This combo can only enhance our expectations ! Subhash says "Rahman and I have been in touch constantly. We gel really well. Like Taal, Yuvvraaj is based on music. I’‘ve told Rahman, Yuvvraaj belongs to two people, Rahman and Subhash Ghai, in that order. All the main characters are musicians in Yuvvraaj."
This is what our Music Guru (aka Mr.Rahman) had to say about the showman (aka Mr.Ghai) - "Subhash Ghai is very different from other directors. He has really worked hard on the visuals. They look really colourful and really romantic. It’‘s almost treated in a musical way where it’‘s more realistic than just background music."
As per Gulzaar Sahab, the songs of YUVVRAAJ are ‘‘magnificent’‘ but he is quick to add that he is not saying this because he is the lyricist of the film. He gives all the credit to the director, Subhash Ghai and the music director, A.R. Rahman. He adds "When I saw the songs of Yuvvraaj on screen , I sent a message to Rahman saying that they were magnificent, and this is a very honest opinion of his songs and picturization. Great showman puts up a great show! I think the performances of Subhash’‘s Yuvvraaj will go a long way in carrying this film ahead .it touches your heart."
After all this, I feel its gonna be an interesting flick to watch.
