Billus life is changed when a film unit arrives at his village for shooting a movie. To Billus surprise, the star of the movie is none other than Sahil Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) who was Billus old school friend. Instantly, Billu becomes prominent man in the village and attains fame and respect. Villagers urge him to make acquaintance with the superstar, but Billu is intimidated by his friends superstar status. He thinks that Sahil would never acknowledge his friendship with a barber. Billu strives to meet the star but is unsuccessful. Finally, he fails after lots of struggle. People suspect that Billu is fibbing in order to gain fame and start offending him. Billus family and children become apprehensive about his claim. In the end, for an invited school function, the star reveals his past. He tells the audience that in his school days he had a friend who always stood by him in his hardships. He tells how much the friend helped him by providing food when he was hungry, provided clothes when he did not having any. He tells that the friend gave him the money to join acting by selling his ancestral ear ring and that friend happens to be Billo.

At that time the people recognize about Billo and the movie happily ends.

Billu Barber Trivia

Billo Barber is a remake of the Malayalam film Kadha Parayumbol, has already been remade in Tamil as Kuselan.

There are guest appearances by actresses Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

Director Priyadarshan signed on actors Irrfan Khan, Akshay Kumar and Tabu to essay pivotal roles in the film.

However, Kumar didn't find the film interesting and opted out of the project whilst Tabu refused the film as she didn't want to work with Irrfan Khan.

"Kareena's song is crucial to the story of Billoo Barber. Like Kareena's famous song in Don that people cannot forget, the 'Billoo Barber' number would be unforgettable too. Kareena's name will become synonymous with the number", says a source.

Billo (Irrfan Khan) is the stubborn village barber who refuses to adapt to new fashions in the hair dressing world. One day a film crew, including its superstar Sahil Khan, visits Billo's village to shoot a movie. When the villagers learn that Sahil was Billo's school friend, they give the barber the respect he craves.
But Billo is also unsure on meeting Sahil. Due to his superstar status he fears the star may not recognise him. After many unsuccessful attempts of getting in touch with Sahil, Billo gives up. He is branded a liar by the villagers and his family. But all ends well when Sahil is invited to the village school function. He reveals his past to all present about a close friend he had at school who always stood by him in his hour of need.
Whether Sahil manages to meet Billo forms the climax of this comedy drama produced by Shah Rukh Khan.Billo Barber is a remake of the Malayalam film Kadha Parayumbol and Tamil film, Kuselan. Irrfan Khan plays the lead role, while Shah Rukh Khan only has a minor part.
Directed by Priyadarshan, the film also features Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani in supporting roles. Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are also said to appear in song and dance numbers with Shah Rukh Khan.

Actor Irrfan Khan plays the title role in Priyadarshan’s “Billo Barber” and says he will learn the art of haircutting from a roadside barber to make his character look real. “Not hair styling, mind you. I didn’t want to learn the barber’s art from some posh salon in a seven-star hotel. That kind of haircutting I know already. I’ve done it to my kids. The bona fide barbers hold the scissors in a different manner and the way they hold the customer’s hair is different,” Irrfan told IANS.
“I’m actually going to sit with a roadside barber and observe him at work. As soon as I finish learning … I’ll probably experiment on Shah Rukh Khan, who’s my co-star in ‘Billo Barbar’,” he told IANS.Irrfan, who earned rave reviews for his performances in films like “Maqbool” and “The Namesake”, is really kicked about working with King Khan.“Shah Rukh is such a sport. He called me and said, ‘I’ll dance in the film while you do the acting.’ He is so comfortable in his space. I want to learn that from him. I want to be comfortable in my surroundings. That’s the only plan I have for my career.”
“Billo Barber” is inspired by the unique friendship between Lord Krishna and his childhood friend Sudama and Priyadarshan is presenting it in a new avatar in his film. The movie’s shooting is set to be complete by July end, Irrfan said. The actor added that he had been longing to work with Priyadarshan.
“I saw his recent film ‘Kanjeevaram’ … excellent film. If he has been making comedies because it was the demand of the market, ‘Billo Barber’ will take him into a different league. It’s a very moving story.”Irrfan admits he had to act restrained in his previous release “Krazzy 4?.
“When we were shooting, there were moments when I had to hold myself back. They wanted to focus more on the story. Many of my proposed scenes were eliminated. But I’ve no complaints. ‘Krazzy 4' is popular with kids. I always wanted to do a film that kids would love. I’ve been doing too many grownup films.”So why doesn’t Irrfan direct a film?
“Only when it comes naturally to me. I’ll only direct when I find a story so compelling that I want to share it with the audience. It may come very soon,” he said.
