After Akshay Kumar in Vipul Shah’s Singh is Kinng , it’s time for Sanjay Dutt to take up the surname Singh in his forthcoming film. Here is an exclusive first look of Sanjay Dutt’s new film Chatur Singh- Two Star .
The casting is still on says director Ajay Chandok. “Sanjay Dutt is the only actor finalized so far. It’s too early to speak about the film as yet.”
And what does the tagline line ‘Two Star’ symbolize? “Sanjay plays a two star police inspector and so it signifies his rank in the police force”, says the director. “It will be a fun film.”
The caption on the poster says- ‘He knows everything... about nothing, He’s on a mission... to destroy himself.” Seems to us that Chatur Singh is one bungling cop and his name is just an irony. Check out the caricature of Sanjay Dutt. Also his shadow behind him is of Wile E. Coyote, a clumsy character in The Road Runner Show.
The film is written by senior writer Rumi Jaffery along with Sai Kabir.
Incidentally Sanjay Dutt had starred in Chandok’s earlier film Nehlle Pe Dehlla . Sanjay Dutt on the other hand still has his hands full regarding his court case and there are possibilities that he could go back to jail anytime. When we questioned the director about this, he refused to comment.

One look at the poster of Sanjay Dutt's Chatur Singh Two Star evokes memories of Steve Martin as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau. To be directed by Ajay Chandok, the film is about a police inspector known for his idiosyncracies and his humorous ways of solving a case.
According to sources, Chatur Singh is definitely inspired by Pink Panther, but the setting is definitely very Indian. Dutt has great comic timing and for the first time, will be seen in an out-and-out comic role. But the film's writer Rumi Jaffrey begs to differ and says that Chatur Singh is not based on Pink Panther. Talking about the similarities in the posters of both films, he revealed that since they were unable to get Sanjay Dutt for a shoot, they decided to use a cartoon character instead. Apparently the film is partially inspired from Pink Panther. Sanju's character in the film is based somewhat on Inspector Clouseau. Apparently Sanju loved the script when he heard it. He has watched all the Pink Panther movies and is a great fan of Inspector Clouseau. The film is scheduled to be released some time next year.
